വിശ്വമലയാള മഹോത്സവത്തോടനുബന്ധിച്ച് മുപ്പതുവയസ്സില്‍ താഴെയുള്ളവര്‍ക്കായി ഏര്‍പ്പെടുത്തിയ സാഹിത്യമത്സരങ്ങളിലെ പുരസ്‌കാരങ്ങള്‍ പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു. കഥാവിഭാഗത്തില്‍ പി.വി.ഷാജികമാറിന്റെ ‘വില ‘എന്ന കഥയാണ് പുരസ്‌കാരം നേടിയത്. കവിതവിഭാഗത്തില്‍ എന്‍ .എസ്.സുമേഷ് കൃഷ്ണന്റെ മടക്കം എന്ന രചനയ്ക്കാണ് പുരസ്‌കാരം. വി.ഹരീഷ് രചിച്ച കാരിയും പൊട്ടനും എന്ന രചനയ്ക്കാണ് നാടകവിഭാഗം പുരസ്‌കാരം ലഭിച്ചത്. 25,000 രൂപയും പ്രശസ്തിപത്രവും അടങ്ങുന്ന പുരസ്‌കാരം നവംബര്‍ ഒന്നിന് വിശ്വമലയാള മഹോത്സവത്തോടനുബന്ധിച്ച് വിതരണം ചെയ്യും

76-year-old Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee is the current finance minister in the UPA government and the leader of the 15th Lok Sabha. In a parliamentary career spanning over four decades, Pranab Mukherjee has held several positions in the government, and risen though a series of cabinet posts to become India’s finance minister from 1982 to 1984. He has also served as the country's external affairs and defence minister. The veteran Congress leader was not included in Rajiv Gandhi's cabinet after Lok Sabha election held subsequent to Indira Gandhi's assassination, and was even pushed out of the Congress party for a brief period, during which he formed his own political party, Rashtriya Samajwadi Congress, but later merged it with Congress party in 1989 after a settlement with Rajiv Gandhi. In 1997 Pranab Mukherjee was voted Outstanding Parliamentarian. Active in West Bengal politics, he was the president of the state’s unit of Congress since 1985, but resigned in July 2010. Well-respected by politicians of all parties, Pranab Mukherjee is the Congress party’s main troubleshooter and has often been called upon to guide the party through difficult situations. He is married, and has two sons and one daughter.
